Why We Love Tapas for Dinner

Time for Tapas

OK... listen-up foodies. Just discovered another reason why we should love tapas for dinner. OK here is what happened. Remember all those tapas I was making? Well our Spanish friends did not show up at 7:00... They did not show up at 7:30 nor at 8:00.

Assuming they forgot, I baked squares of puff pastry with sweetened mustard, added 1/4 fresh fig, topped with Serrano ham and a sprinkle of brown sugar and baked. They were wonderful and the aroma filled the house and out into the street. I fed the neighbor ladies sitting outside crocheting and they shrieked QUE BUENO!

At 9:00 PM, our friends arrived. We had forgotten that Spanish time is different than what we think. 9:00 is the new 7:00 I guess! Anyway, putting out tapas was easy (minus the fig tapas) and it was stess-free.

Spent the evening, under the stars, smell of jasmine, tapas and great conversation ... always makes me remember why I live here. YOU have to come visit to experience this little slice of Spanish life.
