Tourists Fall in Love with the Village of Torrox Pueblo

by September 30, 2010

OK so it has been awhile since I updated this blog. Rather than discuss those reasons I want to get right to the fun reasons I am updating today.

Yesterday, we had a group here for the Path to Paella class. Three Americans and one Norwegian. Words cannot express how delightful this group was. Tourists like this, make me fall in love with the village all over again.

It was difficult getting the group through all the places to tour and buy their Paella ingredients because they were stopping to take so many photos. The Norwegian tourist actually lives in a nearby village but even she was fascinated with our little village of Torrox Pueblo.

The paella the group created was different from any others. You see, today there was a strike because of the increase of retirement age and so many shops were closed. The students wanted seafood in their Paella but there was no fish monger today. The butcher suggested they add pork short ribs. Sounded a bit strange to me and I have never had that before... but WOW it was fantastic! The ribs had enough fat to keep it moist without it being too "fatty" and the flavor was incredible.

I have to admit, when this group left, I felt like I was saying goodbye to old friends. It did make me reflect on something about American tourists. Sure there are some weird ones, TRUST me, I know,, but 99% of the tourists from America are respectful, polite, appreciative and most welcome here! OK... gotta go... we have another group of Americans arriving on Saturday, right in the middle of Feria! It should be wild!

Stay tuned!
