Lessons Learned on Retro Steak Night
by September 6, 2010
Retro Night went "OK". There were a few things that need to change. One, we learned that Arthur and I have different views on Caesar Salad. Guess what we are having for dinner tonight? MY Caesar Salad!

Also, learned that you cannot make clam dip the day before. The flavor was fine but the texture becomes thinner. Port Wine Cheese Log texture changes as the summer nights begin to cool down so what seems PERFECT in the house changes out side! The Cherries Jubilee were a big hit as was the Steak House Bread.
My most favorite moment was seeing the other American smile after reviewing the menu and then telling many stories of her youth and memories of these dishes. The Brits were more curious and they were quite fascinated with the cheddar olives and twice baked potato. Of course the Martinis and Manhattans were approached with caution but the guests ended up having a wonderful time.
It is a good theme, easy for the host, and causes reason to chat and create conversation. In other words, this one is a keeper!
Today have to begin getting the rental ready for the culinary students and make a base for Conch Chowder for a Pirate dinner Wednesday. Two more theme dinners left! Culinary students arrive on Thursday. Path to Paella class on Friday. Word for the day... "exhausted".
